Kaleidescape, Inc. is seeking an in-house patent agent/attorney to manage the day-to-day prosecution of the Company's growing patent portfolio. This position requires an experienced and competent individual that can work independently, meet deadlines and provide a high quality of service.

Kaleidescape's diverse patent portfolio covers areas such as encryption, an innovative user interface for browsing digital content, online shopping and content delivery. The Company has 17 issued patents and over 45 pending patent applications.
The successful candidate must be prepared to immediately assume responsibility for the prosecution of the Company's ongoing patent applications and work with the CTO, Intellectual Property personnel and outside legal counsel to secure best-in-class patents. In addition, the Company is looking to file new applications for its many innovative product features and needs a patent agent/attorney who is willing to work diligently to write and file patent applications to secure the earliest possible priority dates for the company's future applications.
Responsibilities:
? Harvest ideas for new applications from within the company, draft new applications, and prosecute the existing patent portfolio in front of the USPTO, in order to secure patent protection for the most important and marketable aspects of the Company's inventions.
? Manage outside counsel. Evaluate recommendations from international patent counsel, and provide instructions for responding to foreign patent office actions.?
? Work with the CTO and IP Director to implement intellectual property portfolio development strategies.?
? Analyze competing products for infringement of Kaleidescape patents.?
? Keep up to date with changes to USPTO procedures and relevant case law and advise the company on same.
Qualifications:
? Registration to practice before the USPTO.?
? Working knowledge of EPO and JPO regulations.?
? Strong legal and technical background with at least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.?
? Minimum of three years patent preparation and prosecution experience in areas related to computing.?
? A track record of securing best-in-class patents in computing or related areas.
? Excellent written and oral communication skills.?
? Comfortable in a fast-paced, distributed work environment. Strong interest in emerging technologies, particularly in A/V and computing.?
? High integrity.
